Hysteroscope

What are the indications for hysterscopic examination?

“Lately I have irregular menses. Earlier when it’s not during menses period, I bled for no reason. Is there something wrong with my uterus?” If women have frequent menses, abnormal bleeding or irregular menses, they may have gynecological problems. Also, women aged over 40 would have increasing chances of cancer. Once these symptoms appear, please consult a doctor as soon as possible. Gynecologists would perform gynecological clinical examination and ultrasound test. If necessary, patients may be referred to hospital for hysterscopic examination.

Must uterine fibroids be removed?

Of course not. Generally uterine fibroids are benign. If it is located outside the uterus with a small size, no surgery is required. However, if the fibroid is located inside the uterus, hysteroscopic surgery is required to remove it, as it often causes menorrhagia and prolonged menses.

Differences between hysterscoipc surgery and vaginal ultrasound

Before hysterscopic surgery, gynecologist would first ask the patient for its history and perform clinical examination, and then use ultrasound machine to examine the uterus of the patient. However, ultrasound image cannot be used to differentiate whether it is normal mucosal layer or polyps. Therefore hysterscope can be used to confirm the diagnosis and to remove the polyps or fibroids when necessary.

Risks of hysterscope

The application of hysteroscopy, there are no superficial wound. The wound is located in the uterus and recovery is quick. There are not much risks of having hysterscope, the risks of hemorrhage and uterine rupture are extremely low.
